I'm sitting in Greyton, a small village 1hour drive from Cape Town, and enjoying beautiful mountains. This is the place where I'm spending my last days of 2009, an amazing year.
I started 2009 with moving to Sweden and getting a new job, working for the UEFA Under 21 Championship. More or less at the same time I went on vacation to Cuba and fullfilled a my dream. In May I went one week to Morocco for hiking and climbing the Mount Toubkal. June was the month of the UEFA tournament. Heavy. long days - but I enjoyed every second and had a really really great team and lots of fun. After hard work there was time for vacation again - climbing the highest mountain of Sweden in the North of the country. And in August - off to Berlin to work as Team Attache during the Worls Championship Athletics. Again I fullfilled a dream which I had many many years already. This was followed by two short stays in Finland for the Woman EURO 2009. And than the message that I will go to South Africa to work for the World Cup! And now I'm here, working hard but having great fun and enjoying my time. 2009 - it was a really great year!
Since more than one week I'm in this little village in the mountains. I met up with Roos here and with friends from the job to get some outdoor and relaxing time before World Cup fever will start. So we went into the mountains and stayed there beside a waterfall in the middle of nowhere in a tent. Swimming in the water, jumbing from the cliff, bouldering, cooking on real fire, drinking wine and talking - it was nice and we enjoyed being outdoor.
After this experience we got the car from my friends and drive 600km to Jeffreys Bay, a small village near the beach. There we met up with friends and went sky diving. What an great experience. Jumbing out the airplane at 10.000 feet, free fall, beautiful view over beach and ocean. I can not really describe the feeling, but I will never forget it. And I want more!!
Skydiving was followed by an afternoon swimming and good fun with the group jumbers. In the evening we had a big fire on the beach and slept outside, enjoying the sound of the waves.
One day later we still haven't had enough adrenaline. So we went off for bungy jumbing on our way back to Graystone. 216m - the highest Bungy Jumb in the world. Yes, it was high. But the feeling standing up there, ready to jumb, is just unforgetable. Not talking about the feeling when you feet left the platform and you are falling, head first, in direction ground. I just can advise everybody: try it when you get the chance!
Back in Greyton, Roos went off to Cape Town and I'm enjoying my last days of the years with friends. Swimming, moutain biking, bbq and beer - a good combination.
Rest one thing to say: I wish you all a great and stunning 2010 with lots of new experiences, fun, love and, of course, football!

Dat klinkt als een geweldige afsluiting van 2009! En een "luchtige!" Wij waren afgelopen dagen in Berlijn en ik verwachtte je iedere keer om de hoek te zien komen, haha. Maar je zat dus gewoon in Afrika (ik dacht dat je misschien wel voor de Kerst naar Duitsland was gevlogen).
Ook voor jou de allerbeste wensen voor 2010. Dat het maar een supergaaf jaar mag worden, minstens net zo mooi als 2009. Liefs van Ursula (ps ik ga deze zomer 3,5 week naar de nationale parken van Amerika!) -

What can I say, what a great experience and unforgetable things you are doing their in South Africa, I can understand you enjoy it. For you also a great 2010, with a lot of fun, love, happinnes and a good health. I hope to see you in 2010, maybe I come to Africa.

Gelukkig nieuwjaar en de beste wensen voor 2010!
Wat een geweldige dingen heb je allemaal gedaan. Maar skydiven zoder mij kan niet hoor (geintje). We moeten altijd nog een keer samen gaan springen. Merlin kwam al met het idee dat ik dan ook maar naar Zuid-Arika moet gaan. Heb ik geen problemen mee.
Leuk om verder te lezen dat alles goed gaat.

Ok voor jou een geweldig 2010, maar dat zal met al je avonturen wel goedkomen! We hebben net de traditionele GSF nieuwjaarswandeling achter de rug, ijskoud en sneeuw, wel heel mooi! Hele andere weersomstandigheden dan bij jou dus, maar het heeft zo zijn charmes!

heeee!! dir auch ein super jahr 2010 und auf dass es so weiter geht auf der überholspur und der erfolgswelle ;) selbst komme ich grad aus österreich vom skieen: am samstag hatten wir noch 40cm neuschnee!!
